Located on the outskirts of Walla Walla, Washington, Geyer German Shepherds sits on a 400 acre ranch surrounded by rolling hills and lush farmland. Rebecca Bennington-Geyer, founder and owner of Geyer German Shepherds has a deep love for the breed that stems from over 25 years of showing and working with Shepherds in conformation, obedience, and schutzhund.
Proudly, her first litter was born in 1989, when she started with American bred Shepherds. Later, she added the German lines, after which she realized her favorite dogs were blends from the best of both. Working and living on the ranch, Rebecca is able to concentrate extensively on her dogs. Since the majority of her dogs go into pet/companion homes, she concentrates her attention on a dog that is easy to live with and fun; playful, yet can also be serious; protective, yet good with people and children; a dog with an even temperament and exemplary health.
Breeding for appearance and balanced movement is also important and Rebecca has narrowed her bloodlines down to her favorite lines that produce well with each other. Not liking roached backs or over-angulated rears, she breeds for a more old fashioned looking German Shepherd. In her mind, dogs should look functional, but not boring and she is always striving to improve the breed.
Rebecca shows her dogs in American Kennel Club shows a few times a year and works dogs at the local schutzhund club.
